Fuel scarcity continues as only some of the fuel stations owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Abuja have started dispensing fuel to customers.
This was few hours after the leadership of NUPENG and PENGASSAN announced the suspension of an industrial action they embarked upon on Wednesday.
A tour of fuel stations round the city centre revealed that only some of the NNPC managed fuel stations were selling, while others were still under lock and key with long queues of customers waiting and hoping that sales would resume.
However, normal activities have returned at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation which was barricaded on Wednesday by the striking workers.
Meanwhile, motorists continue to groan over the fuel scarcity as some say they have spent hours on queues without hope of getting the product to buy.
Also, in Benin city, the Edo State capital, motorists were still lamenting on Thursday over the persistent fuel scarcity in the city which has also resulted to a hike in the price of the other commodities.
They called on all concerned authorities to urgently address the persistent fuel scarcity in the country which they say has made live unbearable for them and other citizens.
In Port Harcourt, the suspension of the strike by NUPENG and PENGASSAN over the unbundling proposal of the NNPC also did not make much difference..
Channels TV correspondent in Rivers State reports that frustration still filled the air for residents in Rivers State as long queues were seen in some filling stations across the state on Thursday afternoon.
Reports from other parts of the country revealed that the resumption of activities at the NNPC depots is yet to have a noticeable impact on the fuel situation.
