Medical Laboratory Scientists Seek Improved Funding For Research

The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) says the country cannot afford to continually run poorly equipped medical laboratories in the face of increasingly strange diseases around the world.

This was part of resolutions reached by the association in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, during the 194th meeting on health related issues.

The gathering believes that not all medical unions has a bone to pick with the Federal Government, but advised that the 2016 budget should substantially improve the conditions of the sector, as the last Ebola and Lassa Fever crisis exposed the weakness of research and testing in the country.

National President of the body, Toyosi Raheem, also spoke on the need for regulations and training in the sector.
