FRSC Embarks On Operation Bulldozer In Anambra

The Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has impounded over 50 vehicles in Onitsha during the launch of a special intervention patrol tagged, Operation Bulldozer.

Speaking during the exercise which took place at the Bridge Head area of Onitsha, the Deputy Corps Marshal in-charge of Operations, Abuja, Mr. Adei Abu, said the exercise is aimed at clearing all obstacles that obstructed and impede safety on the highways.

While educating and informing road users on all they need to know about their vehicles, it also presents the latest innovations in road safety and management.

The bridge head axis of Onitsha was the most suitable location for the launch of Operation Bulldozer because it is always busy with vehicles entering Anambra from the Asaba end and many more exiting the state through the bridge.

According to Mr. Abu the federal government has procured 283 smart vehicles for patrol which has been distributed to all the states of the federation to make work easier for the corps.

From the highways, the operation bulldozer team moved to the office complex of the Onitsha Unit Command where not less than 50 vehicles impounded are kept.

The FRSC revealed that some of the major offences committed by drivers are non-possession of driving licenses, over-loading and reckless driving.

At the end of the operation, the Deputy Corps Marshal gave his overall assessment of the exercise which he said would promote drivers’ compliance with traffic rules as well as ensure that they drive with good tyres and wipers while avoiding overloading.
