Retirees under the aegis of the Local Government Pensioners in Ogun State have protested the non-payment of their two months pension by the state government.
The Chairman of the Workers, Sikiru Ayilara, said that the old citizens across the state were at the office of the Ogun State Commissioner for Finance, Mr Wale Osinowo, to demand the immediate payment of their entitlement.
Addressing the protesting pensioners on Thursday after a closed door meeting which lasted for over an hour, Mr Osinowo described the demonstration as a communication gap, noting that the May pension had been paid to the banks.
On his part, Mr Ayilara expressed confidence in the agreement reached during the meeting which he said was expected to lead to the payment of the June pension.
Having spent the better part of their lives working for the government, he said the payment of their pensions should not be allowed to degenerate into protests.
