Al-ShabaabUnknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Wednesday attacked Thambo, a village in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State killing three persons and injuring three others.

The attackers, who invaded the village at about 2AM also carted away cattle and other domestic animals belonging to the community.

Some community leaders who brought in the corpses of those killed to the Adamawa State Police Headquarters, lamented the lack of Police presence in the area despite the security challenges witnessed in recent times.

Reacting, the Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, described the incident as unfortunate, saying the attack was the handiwork of cattle rustlers.

He assured residents that the Police was on top of the situation and would soon arrest the perpetrators.

The three corpses, which was brought to the Police headquarters in Yola by the villagers, were later moved to the Specialist Hospital.

The Officer-in-Charge of Accident and Emergency Unit of the Hospital, Mr Kemiel Gilama, said that the injured have been attended to.

The Christian community on the other hand described the attack as one too many.

Thambo is one of the five villages attacked by herdsmen in January 2016, where scores of people were killed and property worth millions destroyed.

Just last week, a clash in Koh, one of the villages in the area left two persons dead.
