The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the immediate disbandment of the IGP Special Tactical Squad (IGP-STS).

Bauchi, security, policeThe Bauchi state police command in its efforts towards fighting crime and criminal activities, has launched the ‘change begins with me’ campaign and public complaint rapid response unit, to take care of complaints from the public.

This according to the force is to fight against police professional misconduct, emanating from policing activities and operations.

As the festive season approaches with the accompanying high rate of criminal activities during the period, the state police has decided to put some strategies in place that would curtail crime rate in the state.

Other activities at the launch included the unveiling of suggestion boxes at strategic locations, which would give members of the public, opportunity to provide useful information that will be treated with confidentiality.

Also a road walk was organized to campaign for attitudinal change on zero tolerance to corruption and quality services delivery from the police force.

The police commissioner accompanied by other security agent chiefs in the state, members of the police community relations committee, National Union of Road Transport Workers and the civil society, embarked on the walk, across the Bauchi metropolis.

They were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions on attitudinal change, zero tolerance to corruption, quality service delivery, among others.

The force has emphasized the need to build public confidence, by also encouraging synergy with other security agents in fighting crime; a move considered to indeed be a step in the right direction.
