Former Arsenal defender Lauren believes no amount of pressure will force Arsene Wenger to resign from managing the North London club.

The 40-year-old expressed confidence that his former boss knows how to deal with pressure, adding that things would be in the right way sooner or later.

Lauren played 159 league games for the Gunners between 2000 and 2007, and was part of the “invincibles” squad that won the 2003-2004 league title.

“I don’t think he (Wenger) will resign. He’s been under pressure for 30-35 years, managing big clubs with big pressure,” he told BBC on Wednesday.

Coach Wenger whose contract expires at the end of the season, was recently criticised by some fans as a result of the club’s performance in the league.

He had said he would decide on a new contract in March or April, but later noted that he made a mistake in giving such timeframe.

Arsenal will face Southampton in the Premier League later on Wednesday, and a win would lift them into fifth spot on the table.
