Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki on Tuesday reiterated the resolve of his administration to build a solid and productive economy in the state.
In his address at the commissioning of BUA cement plant in Okpella, Edo State, Governor Obaseki said that the welfare of the people is paramount to the government.
He said the change slogan of his administration was not just a mere saying, but that government would not relent in its effort to grow the state’s economy.
“From the very onset of our administration, we promised Edo people that our change slogan was not mere rhetoric,” Obaseki said.
“From agribusiness and industrialisation, through infrastructure and housing, to education and science and technology, we have never lost sight of the need to build a solid, productive and integrated economy with the interest of our people at the core.”

The governor explained that the government’s value for money approach was in line with efforts to create more jobs and ensure the safety of lives and property of the people.
“Our value for money approach may have made some people uncomfortable, but I can assure you that our reforms and innovations will produce long lasting results that would grow the Edo economy and provide jobs and enhance our security,” he said.
Obaseki said the commissioning of the cement plant was very much at the heart of the strategic transformation of the state’s economy.
He said Edo is a state where large scale industrialisation driven by the private sector capital is helping to create economic empowerment and impacting lives.
The event was attended by dignitaries including the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah.
Others are the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje; Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanisu II; and former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole among others.
