The family of the embattled former chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of witch hunting saying Maina should be appreciated and not prosecuted.
The family is reacting after Maina’s properties were sealed by the anti-graft agency in Kaduna and Abuja.
The family says the properties sealed off by EFCC on account of alleged corruption were inherited by Maina from his father long before he joined the civil service.

The family while addressing a news conference in Kaduna on Wednesday said rather than prosecute Maina, the Nigerian government should appreciate him for the radical reforms he brought into Nigerian Pension Scheme that saw the end of massive corruption in the system.
The younger brother of the former Pension Chairman, Aliyu Maina, who spoke on behalf of the family, says Maina was brought back by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to help in realising its Change Agenda, especially in the fight against corruption.
He also claims that Maina’s recent ordeal in the hands of the EFCC is a deliberate plot by a cabal to tarnish the good image of President Buhari and the attorney General of the Federation.
The family while describing the action of the EFCC as an infringement on the fundamental human rights of Maina, however, vows to challenge the action in a court of competent jurisdiction.
