Inspector-General Of Police, Ibrahim Idris
The Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has visited some of the troubled villages in Benue and Nasarawa states, including Tunga, Guma and Logo.
His visit is part of efforts by the Federal Government to put an end to the incessant killings by suspected herdsmen.
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, had alleged that militiamen attacking farmers in the state were camped in Tunga village of Awe local government area of Nasarawa state.
The police chief, however, debunked the claims but noted that adjustments will be made in mobile police deployments to border areas.
During the assessment visit, he also interacted with heads of affected communities, as well as displaced persons, assuring them of their safety.
