Two soldiers were injured on Monday when Boko Haram terrorists ambushed troops along Damboa Road in Borno State.

The Deputy Director, Public Relations, of the Theatre Command, Colonel Clement Nwachukwu, said the two soldiers were evacuated to a hospital where they are receiving treatment.

“It’s been confirmed that yesterday afternoon, troops on patrol between Azir – Kubua along Damboa road encountered an ambush staged by elements of Boko Haram insurgents and successfully fought through the ambush.

Information available to me now indicates that two members of the patrol team sustained injuries and are being stabilised,” Nwachukwu said in the statement.

He explained further that those injured have been evacuated and reinforcement immediately dispatched.

“They have been evacuated for medical attention. Reinforcement immediately dispatched to track down the insurgents,” he said.

The newly dispatched reinforcement according to Nwachuwu have recovered a vehicle hijacked by the insurgents during the encounter.
