Actor Bambadjan Bamba speaks to media at the The ACLU Foundation of Southern California Annual Luncheon at the JW Marriott Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on June 8, 2018, where he received the organization’s Courageous Advocate Award. On the hit US sitcom “The Good Place,” Bambadjan Bamba plays an eternal being in the afterlife, but in reality he is living in limbo as an undocumented immigrant. The Ivorian actor, 36, is one of 700,000 “Dreamers” — immigrants brought illegally to America as children who were protected by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
