Two persons were killed and several others injured on Wednesday evening during a bank robbery in Igede-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers comprising male and female members shot repeatedly into the air when they arrived, causing members of the community to scamper for safety.
They then proceeded to attack the bank in an operation which lasted over 30 minutes.
The PPRO said the robbers abandoned their vehicle while being chased by the police.
It is unclear if the robbers gained access to the bank’s vaults.
This is the third fatal bank robbery witnessed in the state this year.
