Nigeria’s former Minister of Education and co-founder of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Oby Ezekwesili, has declared her intention to run for the presidency in the 2019 general elections.
She will be running under the platform of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN).
Ezekwesili said this during the party’s national convention on Sunday in Abuja.
In a series of tweets, Ezekwesili explained that she joined the presidential race because the All Progressives Congres (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed in governance.
She also stated that the message of her party (ACPN) and her campaign is that of hope with the hashtag #Hope2019.
This is why, today, in response to the candidates of the #ACPPDP, I have officially declared my candidacy to run as a citizen, alongside you and other citizens, for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2019.
Our message is HOPE. Our hashtag is #Hope2019.— Oby Ezekwesili (@obyezeks) October 7, 2018
