Airport Cleaner, Security Guard Who Returned $22,000 Bag National Awards

The Federal Government has conferred national honours on a bank security guard and airport cleaner.

The Federal Government has conferred national honours on a bank security guard and airport cleaner.

Channels Television reports that the duo bagged the Federal Republic Medal II (FRM II), and were part of the 450 Nigerians that honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja

While presenting the awards to them, President Buhari lauded their display of integrity despite the current global economic realities, a feat he says the younger generation should emulate.

“Despite the present economic challenges, Nigeria still boasts of men and women of integrity; Ms. Josephine Agu, an airport cleaner returned $12,200 found in a toilet at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos as well as Ogbanago Muhammed Ibrahim, a bank security man who found and returned $10,000,” Buhari said in a statement by presidential aide Femi Adesina.

“Today, we celebrate their dignity and strong strength of character by conferring National Honours on them. They are a shining example to our younger generation. I congratulate all the recipients today who will be joining the league of Awardees.”

Josephine Agu was a cleaner at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. In 2015, Agu, a staff of a cleaning company at the Lagos airport, found $12,200, that a passenger forgot inside a toilet in the facility and returned it to security officials.
