Abia Govt Calls For Synergy Among Security Outfits, Police Chief Rues Reports Of Missing Genitals

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Abia State, Prince Okey Kanu, says there is a need for collaboration with security outfits in the state for adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens.

Kanu stated this in his office in Umuahia on Friday when he received in audience the Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and his team, who were on a courtesy visit.

He pledged the commitment of his ministry to give the police needed support and furnish them with useful information, urged Abians to disregard the growing trend that people’s genitals are being stolen.

He advised the people of Abia to report any case of missing genitals to any nearby police station for investigations rather than take laws into their own hands.

Police Rues Reports Of Missing Genitals

Earlier, the police commissioner, who described information as being strategic to governance, stressed the need for a partnership between the Police and the Ministry of Information to ensure that the goals and interests of the people of Abia are met.

According to CP Onwuemelie, the collaboration became pertinent in a bid to ensure that information is deployed in line with the vision of the Dr Alex Otti-led government.

While expressing dismay at the rate of fake news such as reports on missing genitals flying about, CP Onwuemelie, said it is worrisome that things like that still happen in the country.

The Commissioner who described it as barbaric, the act of civilised persons taking laws into their hands, pointed out that most people leverage that to unduly visit terror or victimize their enemies.

Lending his voice, the Director of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State, (BCA), Hyacinth Okoli, noted that these days where fake news spreads easily, it is pertinent to join hands to ensure maximum security in the state.
