The family of popular comic actor, John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, has addressed rumours circulating on social media regarding the actor’s health.
Contrary to rumours, the family clarified that Mr. Ibu has undergone amputation on only one leg, not both.
According to a statement posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Sunday, the family debunked claims that Mr. Ibu’s health issues were related to diabetes.
Instead, they revealed that he has been dealing with blood clotting in his leg, attributed to diseased blood vessels.
“We will like to state that our daddy wasn’t amputated on both legs but only one. The first amputation didn’t completely correct his health predicament so the doctors had to go ahead to amputate same leg further to ensure we didn’t loose him
“Daddy’s cause of sickness is also not diabetes but he’s had constant clotting of the blood in his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges posing risk to his life, therefore the need for the amputation,” the post read.
The family also disclosed that despite plans to fly Mr. Ibu abroad for advanced treatment, doctors have deemed him “Not Fit to Fly.” This classification has made it challenging to secure transportation, as no airline is willing to accommodate him in his current condition.
According to the family, Mr. Ibu is currently receiving medical care at one of Nigeria’s prominent hospitals, staffed by a team of highly skilled professionals.
The family urged friends, colleagues, fans, and the public to keep Mr. Ibu in their prayers and cautioned against spreading unconfirmed reports about his health.
