An investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, has alleged that smugglers can bring in all manner of goods into Nigeria by bribing operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The journalist, who was on Channels Television’s Hard Copy programme on Friday, said customs officials in Nigeria only intercept smugglers who refuse to bribe them.
Soyombo said he travelled to the Benin Republic in November 2022, got some bags of rice and brought them to Nigeria through Ilaro, a border community in Ogun State.
