“I don’t know anything about saving worlds, but you do,” Deadpool exclaims at Wolverine in the new trailer for their upcoming film.

In the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the fourth-wall-breaking anti-hero, while Hugh Jackman returns as the iconic X-Men mutant, which embraces its R rating – leaving the PG-13 MCU in the dust.

The third installment of the franchise is set to release in theatres on July 26, 2024.

In the teaser, Deadpool recruits an aging Wolverine for an important mission. The film marks their introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where they encounter the Time Variance Authority (TVA), responsible for overseeing the multiverse. The TVA was initially introduced in the series Loki.

The shift from the PG-13 MCU was evident throughout Deadpool & Wolverine teaser’s dialogue, as Reynolds’ Wade Wilson/Deadpool says at one point, “Your little cinematic universe is about to change forever … I’m the Messiah. I … am … Marvel Jesus.”

“Deadpool & Wolverine” also marks Deadpool’s first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, which owned the “X-Men” and “Deadpool” film rights, in 2019.

The trailer promises intense action, self-referential humour, and nods to Marvel fans. The star-studded cast includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

During the Super Bowl, the film’s first trailer garnered a record-breaking “365 million views in 24 hours,” surpassing the previous record held by Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which amassed 355.5 million online views within the same timeframe, according to Disney.

Deadpool & Wolverine serves as a cinematic send-off for Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, following his last appearance in the 2017 film Logan within the X-Men franchise.
