The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, on Tuesday, said that Lagos is a secure and thriving environment for young people.
He stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief.
“We must create a safe haven for youths ultimately. Lagos is safe and we will continue as a government as an administration to try and keep it safer,” Ogunlende said.

The Commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to including youths in its THEMES plus agenda, where he highlighted the importance of youth development as a key priority.
“Lagos is safe for youth to thrive because the government, our theme plus agenda has recognized the youth as an integral part of our agenda, which is very loaded.”
He also addressed the issue of street urchins, acknowledging that they are a product of societal challenges.
To Ogunlende, the government is actively working to rehabilitate street urchins through skill acquisition programmes and various initiatives, aiming to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process.
“We have programs that we are developing and implementing for them. There are several programs we are trying to put together just so that they are not left behind which is the mantra of our administration,” he said.
He urged officials to fulfill their duties and called on citizens to take responsibility for fulfilling various duties and by that eradicate problems.
“It is the responsibility of every single person appointed into office to do his or her job. If everybody can do his or her job we’ll not have a lot of issues.
“If we do this and we do it properly, we will eradicate 80 percent of the problems we have in Nigeria. All hands have to be on deck because it is our community, it is our Lagos.”
