The Niger State Police Command has arrested 19 suspected phone snatchers and thugs during a sting operation led by ACP Aliyu Rabah.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Danmamman, the operation targeted crime hotspots in Minna, including New Market, Sauka-Kahuta, Soje, and Kpakungu.
The suspects, aged between 15 and 29, were caught with dangerous weapons, including an axe, cutlasses, knives, an iron rod, charms, and cannabis. They are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted soon, the police said.
In a separate operation, police in Chanchaga Division arrested a suspect with a stolen white Toyota Corolla (Reg. No. LFA 799 ST).
The vehicle was stolen on January 31, 2025, in Tunga, Minna, and intercepted at City Gate while the suspect attempted to take it to Kaduna for sale.
Commending the officers, the Commissioner of Police urged them to continue their efforts in making Niger State crime-free.
