Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Raji Adetola, popularly known as Mr Sanku Comedy, has been confirmed dead by Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa.
The Nigerian comedian Sanku was involved in a fatal car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso road in Ibadan on Monday.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, with photos and videos showing the vehicle plunging into a ditch.
Sanku, who was in the car with a friend, was rushed to the hospital, but was later confirmed dead a few hours later.
The condition of his friend remained unclear, though social media reports suggested the individual was in critical condition.
Known for his unique storytelling and comedy style, Sanku began his content creation career in 2021.
Skit maker Ozain Comedy confirmed the tragedy on his Instagram story with the post, “Rest well, soldier,” shortly after influencer Jidex also took to TikTok to speak on his death with the caption, “Rest in peace.”
Reacting to the news, Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa shared on Instagram that she had asked one of her students living near Bowen Hospital to check on him, and was initially told he was responding to treatment.

She added that despite her fervent prayers against death, Sanku sadly did not survive.
“When I saw the news online, I quickly sent one of my students who stays close to Bowen hospital, and he told me that he met one of your friends at the hospital who told us that you’re responding to treatment. I prayed……God, we prayed!!! Kilowa de bai Oloun, Haa Olorun oba oo,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
She added that despite her fervent prayers against death, Sanku sadly did not survive.
Hours after news of Sanku’s death broke, his final video before the fatal road accident went viral.
The clip, which he posted on his TikTok account with over 1.9 million followers on Sunday, showed him praying not to lose his life at the point of reaping the rewards of his hard work.
