Comedian and Big Brother Naija Season 3 housemate, Aderombi Martin, popularly known as Deeone, says he is determined to rise above past criticism as he prepares to take on a Guinness World Record challenge.
Making a guest appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise programme on Saturday, Deeone reflected on his journey, admitting that he has often been the target of harsh comments online.
“I am one of the most criticised Nigerians on social media. People will be motivated to see that, with all the negative comments this guy gets sometimes, it has changed now.
“This guy is taking a bold step. So I am sending a message to Nigerians home and abroad that we are very strong people,” he said.

Deeone, known for his controversial takes on social issues, explained that airing his views online is a form of therapy rather than envy.
“Comedians are some of the most depressed people in the world. We go through a lot and, despite that, we still create time to make people laugh. But who makes the comedian laugh? I found a way, I relax, check things online, sometimes I air my view.
“Some people see it as, ‘Oh, Deeone, you are envious of this person,’ ‘Deeone, you are jealous,’ or ‘Deeone, mind your business.’ But I see it as correcting people, just sort of therapy… correcting. That’s my own contribution to nation building,” he said.
Support System
The comedian equally credited his family as an important “support system” that helps him cope with personal struggles.
He revealed that while his parents initially wanted him “to pursue comedy in the United Kingdom,” he chose to build his career in Nigeria.
Deeone also acknowledged veteran comedian Alibaba as a major inspiration and one of the leading figures who has supported the Nigerian comedy industry.
GWR Attempt
Looking ahead, Deeone announced his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy performance, targeting 60 hours, surpassing the current 40-hour record.
The comedian said the attempt “will commence on 2 October at midnight and conclude on 4 October in the afternoon.”
According to him, years of consistent practice at comedy clubs have prepared him for the feat.
“I have been doing comedy every week for over 12 years. I’ve practised more than 100 hours, and that gives me confidence to attempt this record,” he noted.
