The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agun Gbenga, has died after slumping at an event in Benin City, the state capital.
Gbenga was said to have collapsed after delivering his goodwill message at an event organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre.

The incident was said to have shocked many at the event, as he looked healthy when he arrived at the venue on Thursday.
The state command of the NSCDC confirmed the incident in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Efosa Ogbebor, on Friday.
It explained that Gbenga was rushed to the Military Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“As an astute operations officer, Commandant Agun Gbenga worked tirelessly to ensure the protection of the lives and property of citizens.
“His humility, friendliness, and intelligence earned him great respect and admiration. His dedication to duty and commitment to excellence will be deeply missed.
“The NSCDC Edo State Command and the nation have lost a dedicated officer. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement added.
