Actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has voiced her anguish over the continued detention of her brother, Samuel “Sammy West” Daniels, reportedly by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The actress had earlier alleged that her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, was behind her brother’s arrest under unclear circumstances.
Since the allegation, the 64-year-old lawmaker has remained silent, while Regina’s family and colleagues have kept demanding Sammy West’s release.
On Thursday, her brother Sweezzy Daniels disclosed via Instagram that Sammy West had appeared in court and was remanded at Suleja Prison in Niger State.
Reacting in an emotional video posted on Friday, Regina tearfully expressed her desperation and exhaustion, saying she was willing to return to her marriage if that would secure her brother’s freedom.

The 24-year-old actress lamented, “I feel like I’m losing my mind. I wake up every day to new stories about my brother. One moment, I hear he’ll be released; the next, I hear something else. I’ve tried everything… maybe I’ll just go back.”
Her words painted the picture of someone caught in a storm, grasping for calm waters even if it meant sailing back into a place she once escaped.
Regina also questioned what crime her brother committed, accusing Nwoko of using his influence to manipulate the situation.
Their marital crisis reportedly worsened after Regina accused the senator of physically assaulting her, leading to her decision to end the relationship. Nwoko, however, denied the assault, claiming Regina’s actions were due to substance use.
In another post, Regina blasted the police and accused them of bias:
“Fighting for his baby sister because her in-laws always beat her up? Shame on the Nigerian police! The highest bidder always wins. I’ve lost.”
She continued, “If returning is the only way, I’ll do it, be whatever he wants, get injected, be locked up, even raped, just for my brother to come back. There’s no real case against Sammy West. Ned Nwoko seems bigger than Nigeria itself.”
The actress further alleged that Nwoko had moved to have her mother, Rita Daniels, arrested, sharing screenshots of their conversations.
“Ned has issued an arrest warrant against me. I’m to be arrested on or before Monday,” she claimed.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory police reportedly confirmed on Friday that the police were responsible for Sammy West’s arrest.
The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, explained that Sammy West was arrested after failing to honour a police invitation regarding a petition accusing him of conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
She noted that the petition leading to Sammy West’s arrest was received on 28 October. Ms Adeh noted that the complaint was lodged against Sammy West and three others.
