2023 AFCON: FG Hands Certificates Of National Honours, Housing Documents To Super Eagles

President Bola Tinubu pledged the rewards to the team following their second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, held in January/February 2024.


 

Ahead of their opening match of the new AFCON campaign, members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles (class of 2024) have formally received their certificates for national honours, and title documents to housing allocations in either Abuja or Lagos and land grants in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu pledged the rewards to the team following their second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, held in January/February 2024.

The Presentation was made by the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, along with other members of the delegation comprising the Senate Committee chairman on Sports Senator Abdul Ningi, House Committee Chairman on Sports, Kabiru Amadu, CG of Customs, Bashir Adewale, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, SSA to the President Nathan-Mash, Nigeria High Embassy officials, Saleh Amadu among other dignitaries present at the brief ceremony held at the Team Hotel in Fez, Morocco (on the 22nd December, 2025).

Speaking during the presentation, Dikko clarified that all players will receive MON except Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen, who are awarded OON honours, on account of having MON earlier, while William Troost-Ekong is awarded MFR for being named as player of the tournament.

The NSC chief also confirmed that the national honours, houses, and land allocations approved by Tinubu have been processed, with allocation letters issued in line with the President’s commitment to reward excellence and national service.

He said the rewards of houses, national honours, and cash awards of Naira equivalent of of $100,000 USD awarded by the president to the Super Falcons and the D’Tigers have been processed with the title documents to the houses and national honours certificates available for collection.

According to him, the office of the Minister of Finance and the Accountant General of the Federation are concluding the cash payments directly to the players’ accounts.
