The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has opened the application portal for its 2026/2027 Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.

According to the interventionist agency, the NDDC foreign scholarship application portal opened on Monday, March 23, 2026.

“To further boost human resource development in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is once again embarking on its foreign postgraduate scholarship programme to equip our young people with relevant training and skills for effective participation in the local content programme of the Federal Government, as well as enable them to acquire specialisation in their fields of study and thus compete globally in various professional disciplines,” the NDDC wrote.

Courses Available for NDDC 2026/2027 Foreign Scholarship

According to the commission, there are eight courses available for those interested in the NDDC foreign postgraduate scholarship.

The scheme is for qualified applicants with relevant bachelor’s degrees from recognised universities in the following professional disciplines:

  • Agricultural Sciences/Biotechnology
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Geosciences
  • Information Technology/Artificial Intelligence
  • Medical Sciences
  • Architecture/Building Technology
  • Law

How to Apply for NDDC Foreign Scholarship 2026/2027

Prospective candidates were asked to visit the NDDC website (www.nddc.gov.ng), complete the application, and submit it.

Documents Required for NDDC 2026/2027 Foreign Scholarship Application

A breakdown of the documents needed to be submitted for the scholarship application includes the following:

  • Recent passport photograph.
  • Local Government Identification Letter.
  • Post-graduate admission letter from a recognised overseas university.
  • Relevant degrees from recognised universities.
  • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.

“Upon successful completion of the application form, a registration number will be automatically assigned. Applicants are advised to print a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgement for future reference,” the NDDC said.

“All shortlisted applicants will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates will be required to take part in a Computer-Based Test (CBT).”

Application Deadline for NDDC Foreign Scholarship 2026/2027

The portal for the application for the NDDC foreign scholarship 2026/2027 opened on March 23, 2026, and will close on April 19, 2026.

The NDDC said, “Preferences will be given to candidates from oil-producing host communities/local government areas as long as candidates meet the approved cut-off mark.”

But it assured a “fair spread of courses amongst beneficiaries within each state”.

“Deferment, change of institution, and course are not permitted,” it wrote.

“The Commission reserves the sole and absolute discretion to select in line with the above-stated criteria and its internal consideration. The decision of the Commission in this regard is final.”
