Nigeria Revenue Service Targets ₦40trn In Tax Revenue For 2026

The Nigeria Revenue Service said it will publish a ranking of the most tax-compliant states using multiple indicators.

The Nigeria Revenue Service says it requires ₦40 trillion in tax revenue in 2026 and will begin ranking states based on their level of tax compliance.

Speaking at a forum in Abuja, the Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services Directorate, Muhammad Abubakar, who represented the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, said the agency is focused on improving compliance and boosting collection efficiency across the federal, state and local governments.

Abubakar stressed that revenue from the Federation Account remains the lifeblood of all three tiers of government and warned that the country cannot afford weak tax compliance at any level.

He added that, from this year, the Nigeria Revenue Service will publish a ranking of the most tax-compliant states using multiple indicators.
