A major accident was averted on Saturday at the New Parts Market axis of Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State after a trailer reportedly plunged from the Nkpor flyover and crashed onto the road below.
The incident, which caused panic among traders, motorists and commuters, affected a parked shuttle bus, although no loss of life was recorded.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer fell from the bridge and landed on the ground near the bustling commercial area, narrowly missing pedestrians, traders and moving vehicles.
The owner of the affected shuttle bus was said to have escaped death by the whiskers, while business activities in the area were temporarily disrupted as residents and road users gathered at the scene.
Shortly after the incident, the Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Stanley Nkwoka, visited the crash site to assess the situation.
Nkwoka confirmed that no casualty was recorded and expressed gratitude to God for sparing the lives of road users, traders, transport operators and other residents who were in the vicinity at the time of the accident.
He urged motorists and operators of heavy-duty vehicles to adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
The mayor also reassured residents of the local government’s commitment to public safety and emergency response across the area.
