The government also said its making arrangements to take selected butchers across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state to visit the modern abattoir facilities in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The State government’s intention was disclosed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Manzo Maigari, at a news conference.
He said that the essence of the tour was to expose the butchers to best international abattoir practice of killing animals for consumption.
Mr Maigari lamented that the abattoir practice in Kaduna State and Nigeria in general is an embarrassment and unhygienic.
He also described it as unfortunate, a situation where meat produced in the country cannot be sold or consumed outside Nigeria because the abattoir practices are substandard.
According to the Commissioner, it was for this reason that the Kaduna State government is investing resources on some butchers in the state to travel to Saudi Arabia and Turkey to understudy the way animals are killed using modern technology.
He also guaranteed the butchers of the government’s support to ensure that the meat industry in the state can compete favourably with other countries in the world.
