South-East APC Leaders Ask Buhari To Seek Re-election

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a meeting with All Progressives Congress APC-delegation from the South East at the presidential villa in Abuja

President Buhari had earlier met with National Economic Summit group before the meeting with the South East Delegates.

The delegates after the meeting with Buhari with affirmed their endorsement for him contest the 2019 election.

A member of the delegation and Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya after the meeting told journalists that they are happy with President Buhari’s performance.

He, however, implored the president to link the region with the ongoing rail line projects in the country.

He also assured that the party is working hard to win elections in the region.

Muslims, Christians In Kaduna Call For NNPC Probe

APC-members organise prayer in kadunaMuslim and Christian members of the APC have called on the incoming President, General Buhari to probe the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and also ensure that all sectors of the economy are properly overhauled.

The APC members held a joint prayer session and thanksgiving for the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari and the Kaduna State Governor-Elect, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

During the prayer session which held at Rigasa area in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA), they  prayed for divine protection for all incoming leaders, to enable them discharge their new roles for the benefit of the people.

Party members also prayed that the elected leaders would lead them with the fear of God and also tackle corruption to the barest minimum.

While lamenting the poor state of the nation’s economy, the APC members expressed hope that the incoming APC administration would address the challenges confronting the state and the nation.

They expressed confidence in the capability of all elected APC leaders to deliver on their campaign promises, with the view that only fervent prayers is what the leaders need.

No PVC, No Election, Owerri North LGA Youths Protest

ElectionAPC leaders and some youths in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State have insisted that there will be no election in Imo State if INEC fails to deliver the Permanent Voter Cards to the remaining 10 out of the 12 wards in Owerri North Local Government Area.

Over 100 youths from Owerri North Local Government Area stormed the INEC office along Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, the state capital, protesting that elections will not hold in the state if INEC does not provide them with their PVCs.

An indigene of the Local Government, Ray Emeana, said that out of the 27 LGAs in the state, only Owerri North Local Government Area was affected as no single PVC had been distributed to 10 out of the 12 wards in the Local Government.

He also added that they had waited patiently for a long time for INEC to deliver their PVCs but all to no avail.

He alleged that this was a calculated attempt by INEC to disenfranchise the people.

Some APC leaders in the area also stated that INEC should get ready for a re-run or supplementary elections in the state because the people of Owerri North Local Government Area would not participate in the election since their PVCs were not made available to them.

An APC Leader in Owerri North Local Government Area and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Jude Ejiogu, also lamented that INEC has failed the people of the area in the distribution of PVC.

He stressed that this has kept the people of the area questioning the integrity of INEC ahead of the elections. He also shared the view that if there is no PVC for the people, elections might not hold in the area.

Meanwhile, the INEC official who responded to the issues, promised the people of the area that the PVCs would be made available to them by weekend to enable them participate in the election.


Amaechi Hosts APC Rally, Akande, Tinubu, Buhari Present

Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has continued its nationwide campaign for more members with a rally in Rivers State, Nigeria’s South-South region.

Top APC members like the interim national chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, retired General Muhammadu Buhari, and former Lagos State Governor, Chief Bola Tinubu, joined the host, Governor Chibuike Amaechi at a rally in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The APC leaders were thankful of the support of the Rivers people, and asked them to continue to throw their weight behind the party in its quest to entrench democratic principles in the polity.

The APC leaders took turns to express their joy about the decision of the state governor to join the party, referring to their previous visit during which they formally invited him to join the party.

Speaking to the large crowd of supporters, former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu said that the APC was determined to save Nigeria from the high level of corruption, intimidation and “oppression of liars”. He said: “If a president is just still writing about the evaluation of basic necessity of water project for Rivers State people, tell him shame.”

General Buhari assured the people that the APC was about securing the country and managing it properly and the way they intend to achieve this is by getting a stronger representation in the states and at the National Assembly.

The host and governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amechi took to the stage after the presentations by the APC leaders. He said that ahead of the 2015 elections, the people must be ready to defend their votes, and that he will be at the fore-front, as sacrifices will have to be made.
