Bobby Brown Jr, the son of the singer Bobby Brown, has been found dead in Los Angeles, police have said.
The 28-year-old was discovered at his home on Wednesday after officers were called to a “medical emergency”, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Singer-songwriter Landon Brown, who is the eldest son of Bobby Sr., confirmed his brother’s death in an Instagram post captioned, “I love you forever King.”
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained, however, no foul play is suspected as the case is pending examination, said LAPD public information officer Jeff Lee.
Brown Jr was the son of Brown and his former partner Kim Ward, whom he dated off and on for nearly 11 years. At the time of their split in 1991, Kim was two months pregnant with the recently deceased son.
Combing through to Bobby Jr.’s Instagram, he regularly promoted his music on the social media app, towing his father’s line, most recently sharing his record “Say Something.”
Brown Jr’s death follows that of his 22-year-old half-sibling, Bobbi Kristina Brown died in 2015. The daughter of late chart-topping singer Whitney Houston, who died in February 2012, succumbed to her injuries six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub.
The mother and daughter died in similar circumstances three years apart.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of late singer Whitney Houston, died on Sunday at the age of 22, some six months after suffering irreversible brain damage in an incident at her suburban Atlanta home, her family said in a statement.
Brown, whose father is R&B singer Bobby Brown, was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her home by her partner and a friend on January 31. She was moved by her family to hospice care on June 24.
“She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” her family said. “We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
As news of her death became public, media crews and some fans gathered on a darkened cul de sac in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth, where ornate street lamps illuminated the ivy-covered brick nursing home where Brown died.
“We just wanted to show our respect,” said Ali Joyner, 15, who persuaded her mum and a neighbour to drive the 20 miles from their home in Dacula, Ga. “I just loved her mum, Whitney. And Bobbi is part of that.”
Her death came three years after her Grammy-winning mother, who had battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel at age 48. Authorities said cocaine abuse and heart disease contributed to Houston’s February 11, 2012 death.
Bobbi Kristina Brown inherited her mother’s fortune.
A $10 million civil lawsuit filed last month accuses Bobbi Kristina Brown’s partner, Nick Gordon, of causing her life-threatening injuries and of stealing from her bank account while she was in a coma. No one has been charged in the case.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was an aspiring singer who began performing with her mother as early as 1999, singing duets of “My Love is Your Love.” In 2003 they recorded another duet of “Little Drummer Boy” for a holiday album.
Her father is a Grammy Award winner who started his career as frontman for the R&B group New Edition.
Houston and Bobby Brown both struggled with substance abuse and divorced when their daughter was 14. Houston described their 15-year marriage, which ended in 2007, as drug- and alcohol-fueled.
The couple’s tempestuous relationship and often erratic behavior was chronicled in the short-lived television series, “Being Bobby Brown.”
Bobbi Kristina Brown was hospitalized twice with anxiety after her mother’s death.
In 2012 she starred on Lifetime’s reality TV show, “The Houstons: On Our Own,” in which Houston’s family struggled to recover from the famous singer’s death. The same year Bobbi Kristina Brown guest-starred on “For Better or Worse,” a television series about a married couple.
Cissy Houston, mother of late singer Whitney Houston and grandmother of Bobbi Kristina has revealed that the 22- year old’s medical condition has not improved as indicated by her father, singer Bobby Brown.
In an interview with U.S. based People magazine, the 81-year-old woman said: “I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma, she has tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive.
“Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me, We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers”.
Family members of Bobbi Kristina Brown have been visiting her bedside since she was hospitalised on Saturday after being found unconscious in her bathtub, at her home in Atlanta.
Whitney Houston’s only child is now at Emory University Hospital and is still fighting for her life, as a family statement said on Monday.
Nothing has changed, despite reports that are popping up and painting a more serious picture.
According to reports, It’s now a matter of when the family wants to let go and accept that she’s pretty much not going to make it. They’ve left it up to the family as to how long they want to keep her alive.
Meanwhile other reports say a doctor told Brown’s family on Wednesday that nothing more could be done. “Everyone is coming to the hospital to say goodbye,” said a family member.
Bobby Brown issued a statement late Thursday denying these reports.
“If we issued a statement every time the media published a false report regarding this matter, that’s all we would be doing 24 hours a day. This is false, just as is the vast majority of the other reporting that is currently taking place,” he said.
A source close to the family said that it was wrong to say the family was gathering to say goodbye. “Because the family has been there since the beginning, so nothing is any different today for them.”
Also, Brown is “not brain dead,” as has been reported.
“And, as for other stories saying that the Houston family is feuding with Bobbi Kristina’s dad, bobby brown? Those aren’t true either. They “are not fighting,” some news reporters stated.
The New Edition singer and Roxbury bad boy, will be getting ready to walk down the aisle with his longtime girlfriend Alicia Etheridge.
Brown who lost his first wife Whitney Houston on February 11 expressly said, he is not to blame for Whitney Houston’s self-destructive behavior, and he wishes that people would stop pointing the finger at him.
The wedding is set to take place June 15th in Hawaii for few family and friends.
Alicia accompanied her fiancée Bobby for the New Edition concert which has held in Lagos and Port-Hacourt. The couple has been dating for two years and has a 2 year old son Cassius.
Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown spent a few hours behind bars Monday after his arrest in connection with Driving Under Influence (DUI), police said.
Brown, 43, was pulled over in Los Angeles’ Reseda neighbourhood about 12:20 p.m., when cops spotted him driving while talking on a cell phone without using a hands-free device, the Los Angeles Times reports. That’s been illegal in California since 2009, according to the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
Officers conducted a field sobriety test, which Brown allegedly failed, police said. So what punishments could Brown possibly face for his alleged cell-phone and DUI violations?
That will likely depend on how many DUI arrests appear on Bobby Brown’s record. Monday’s DUI arrest seems to be at least Brown’s second DUI: He was convicted of DUI in Georgia in 1996 and served eight days in jail, gossip website TMZ reports.
But in California, where Brown was arrested, DUI offenses remain on a driver’s record for only 10 years, according to the DMV. So Brown’s DUI conviction in Georgia will not appear on his record, and will likely not be considered in sentencing if he’s convicted.
In California, a driver’s first DUI conviction is punishable by up to a $1,000 fine, six months in jail, and a six-month driver license suspension. Subsequent DUI offenses can lead to harsher penalties.
There are a few ways to challenge DUI arrests, such as challenging the accuracy of an alcohol breath test. In Monday’s DUI arrest, Bobby Brown’s breath test allegedly revealed a 0.12% blood-alcohol level, the website Gossip Cop reports. Police likely also took a blood sample for a more accurate test.
As for Brown’s alleged cell phone violation, it appears he’s off the hook for a possible citation. But in general, drivers face a $20 fine for a first cell-phone violation and a $50 fine for subsequent violations.
After Bobby Brown’s DUI arrest, he posted an undisclosed amount of bail and remains free pending a court date.
Brown was in Nigeria earlier this month to participate in a concert dubbed ‘New Edition In Concert’. During the visit the singer thrilled his fans in both Lagos and Port Harcourt. He had said then that he will be willing to collaborate with Nigerian singers on any project he finds interesting.
American superstar, Bobby Brown, together with his boy band members BBD, arrived in Lagos on Wednesday ahead of their two-city tour.
The two-city concert is being put together by Lagos-based events company R28 Events and it will see Bobby and his group performing at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos and the Polo Club, Port Harcourt, all in Nigeria, on March 9 and 11 respectively.
In this interview with Channels Television, the singer speaks on his initial opinion about Nigeria and the chances of collaborating with local artistes.
Why you came to Nigeria
I decided a long time ago that my ultimate goal was to play in Africa. Last time back in the 90s, I didn’t get the chance to do it because of different circumstances and situations didn’t allow me. But I’m just grateful to be here. I can’t wait to see the people; I can’t wait to get on stage. I mean it’s like every moment that I am here is making me itch. I love my people; I love my brothers and sisters and I’m just grateful to be here.
Initial opinion about Nigeria
I didn’t have anything in my head about Nigeria before coming here. I was just personally waiting to see what it had to offer and what it is going to offer me and my future while my past is been my past. I love human beings but being in Nigeria, I see people, I see humans, I see things that I see in myself. I look in the brother’s eyes and he looks like me so I’m appreciating that.
Chances of working with Nigerian artistes
I would love to do that. I have no problem with working with other people, other artistes. Like I said earlier, I’ve been watching Mtv and I’ve seen some of the local artistes that are fly – they’ve got their thing together. I would love to work with some of the artistes down here. It’s no problem for me. But I just really want to get on that stage and do what I do best which is perform.
Why disband New Edition
We disbanded it in the first place because we had so many things that we all wanted to do differently, like with me, I wanted to do funky music. I wanted to make my music a different way and they accepted that. And then BBD wanted to do something different, so they did something different. Ralph Tresvant, he wanted to do something different, so he did that. That’s just how it works out. New Edition is something that we look at as the mother or the mother-ship. It is like we have so many entities in New Edition. We have Ronnie Devoe, we have Bobby Brown, we have Ralph Tresvant, we have Johnny Gill and then we also have a group called Heads of States that me, Johnny and Ralph do. So New Edition is like a whole entertainment field. It something that people really can’t understand until you witness it. Once you witness the spectacularness of New Edition, then they will witness entertainment, because that’s what we do.
Will working together on the 30th anniversary project inspire a comeback for members of New Edition
We are definitely all back together. We’ve been praying together, sitting together. We’ve been going on trips together. I haven’t been with the brothers in my life in a long time and I can tell you this one thing, there’s no stopping New Edition from this point. New Edition will be together forever.
On Bobby Brown solo project
The Bobby Brown solo project will be out May 19th. That is the date we chose to come out with the new album which is called Master Piece. We have a bunch of great music in the album and the producers that I worked with, they are just great guys. It’s not like I go the big cats. I got great music because that’s what I’m known for. I’m not known for having this guy, and that guy and that guy, I’m known for my music. I’m known for my entertainment. I’m looking forward to people hearing it.
Are songs in new album different from the type of music you use to make?
It’s not different. It’s Bobby. If it’s one thing I take pride in, I take pride in doing great music for people. I don’t want anybody to ever think that I will switch off my style just because this is the way music is being done. I’m go give you what I got. You accept it or you don’t. I’m just that type of person.
Word for Nigerian fans
I can’t wait to see you all. I wish I was doing 13 concerts here. I love you all and enjoy the show and I am going to enjoy myself here. If you want me back in Nigeria just call me.
