Nigerian To Be Executed In Singapore, Clemency Appeal RejectedResidents of Oke-Itase area in Ile -ife, Osun State were thrown into confusion when the lifeless body of a 35-year-old man, Sunday Onifade, was found hanging on the iron rod of the ceiling fan in his living room.

The deceased, who was a barber, was believed to have committed suicide by hanging himself, but the reason for his decision could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. His perplexed relatives refused to speak on the incident.

The younger brother of the deceased, Omotayo Onifade, was said to have proceeded to the ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters in Ife to report the death of his elder brother.

He explained that family members were shocked when they saw Sunday hanging on the ceiling fan.

Mr Folasade Odoro, a spokesman for the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, confirmed the incident.

The police chief said investigation had commenced on the matter.

Channels Television’s correspondent, Bosede Sodiq, in Osun State learnt that necessary rites and rituals have started taking place in the house to appease the gods over the incident so as to prevent incessant death among members of the family and the community as believed by the yoruba tradition.

Another Missing Student Of Osun University Found Dead

adebisi damilola mission student of osun universityA 400 Level student of Osun State University, (UNIOSUN) in Osogbo, Adebisi Damilola, who has been missing in the last couple of days has been found dead.

Police detectives say they are making frantic efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.

Channels Television’s correspondent in Osogbo, Bosede Sodiq, reports that Rofiat who was studying Science Education at the Ipetu-Ijesa campus of UNIOSUN left Ipetu on Thursday to attend a programme of NASFAT society at Ikoyi a town close to Ikire and that her whereabouts was unknown since then.

A source, who asked not to be mentioned, said “Rofiat left Ipetu-Ijesha on Thursday. She was supposed to be at a NASFAT programme at Ikoyi, not far from Ikire. We have been looking for her since Thursday. We just received a phone call that Rofiat’s body was found somewhere around Iragbiji”.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, confirmed the incident and assured the parents of the girls that the perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to book.

He said the remains of the deceased student had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and that her family had been notified.

Channels Television also gathered that the father of the deceased student died recently and that the family was still mourning when Rofiat was also sent to her early grave by unknown killers.

Mourners have been thronging the residence of the deceased at Ilesa Garage in Osogbo to console Rofiat’s mother.

Some students, especially the friends of late Rofiat and some staff of UNIOSUN, have visited the house to sympathise with the family.

The management of the university has also sent a delegation to visit the family of the deceased student and commiserate with the parent.

Meanwhile, two final year students of the same university, Samuel Eke and Akinduro Robert who were declared missing since September 5 have not been found. The Commissioner of Police said their disappearance was still under investigation.

Police have arrested and arraigned a student of the university, Adedamola Olagoke, before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for kidnapping saying he communicated with the missing students last before their disappearance.

How Police Arrested Man Allegedly Swindling Unemployed Nigerians

89-Year-Old Man, Three Others Jailed For Land GrabbingA man, Sanusi Rahamon, has been arrested in Osun State by the police for allegedly impersonating the Nigeria Peace Corps (NPC) and swindling unemployed youths.

He promises to give them jobs when Peace Corps becomes a statutory security agency and make them part with their money.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command that made the arrest, Folashade Odoro, said Sanusi was arrested in Osogbo, Capital of Osun State, on Monday along with eight other persons and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Odoro said copies of certificate and identity cards of the NPC were among the items recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest.

The police spokesperson also said the suspect told police detectives that he got the Peace Corps certificates and ID cards from Abuja.

She told Channels Television’s correspondent, Bosede Sodiq, that those arrested along with Sanusi were some of his victims who were oblivious of his pranks but desperate to be employed into the NPC.

Odoro said the preliminary investigation by police detectives revealed that Sanusi had a registered private security guard and that he had trained many youths in the state with the assurance that they would be the first set of applicants that would get letters of employment as soon as the NPC is made a conventional security outfit.

Odoro said investigation on the matter is ongoing and that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law afterwards.

She, however, cautioned unemployed youths to be wary of fraudulent individuals in their desperation to get jobs.

“This suspect obviously has been in this act for a very long time. Imagine all the identity cards found on him. He really must have swindled so many people. Osun State Police Command will not allow such people to go free. They must be made to face the fill wrath of the Law.

“Many innocent people have fallen victim to this kind of people. I can only ask youths to be very careful. Inasmuch as they are seeking jobs, they need to test all job opportunities they find so they do not land themselves in the net of people whose intent is to deceive others,” she cautioned.

“We are determined here in Osun to wipe out nefarious activities that will tarnish the image of the command and we will ensure that full investigation is carried out on this case to serve as deterrent to others who are still at large,” the Osun State police command’s spokesperson added.
