Singer Chris Brown is being sued for rape in California, with his alleged victim claiming he drugged her and attacked her on a yacht at rap mogul Diddy’s Florida home.

The woman, identified in court papers only as Jane Doe, is demanding $20 million in damages from the R&B star.

According to the civil suit, which was filed on Thursday and seen by AFP, Brown invited the woman — described as a choreographer, dancer, model and musical artist — to the yacht shortly after she arrived in Miami on December 30, 2020.

She says the drink he offered her there made her feel “disoriented (and) physically unstable.”

The filing says Brown led her into a bedroom where, despite her protests, he raped her.

“The traumatic events that Plaintiff Jane Doe experienced shock the conscience and should horrify all of us,” says the suit, filed in Los Angeles.

“The time has come to send a message to Defendant Chris Brown that enough is enough.

“Accordingly, Plaintiff Jane Doe brings this complaint seeking justice for herself (and also with the hope it may serve as an example for others) who may now or have in the past found themselves at the mercy of Defendant Chris Brown.”

Lawyers Ariel Mitchell and George Vrabeck told TMZ their client did not report the alleged attack to the police because she was embarrassed.

AFP asked the firm if a criminal complaint would be forthcoming in the wake of the civil case, but there was no immediate reply.

Grammy Award-winning Brown took to Instagram after news of the suit broke.

“I HOPE YALL SEE THIS PATTERN OF [blue cap emoji],” he wrote. The blue cap emoji is used to denote untruths.

“Whenever im releasing music or projects ‘THEY’ try to pull some real bullshit.”

Brown did not specify who “they” were.

In 2009, Brown was convicted of beating fellow singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, who missed the Grammy Awards because of her injuries.

He also was previously accused of raping a woman in a luxury Paris hotel. He denied the claim, and was not charged.

A 25-year-old woman who accused US singer Chris Brown of rape is standing by her accusations despite Brown’s denials and release from custody, her lawyer told AFP on Thursday.

“She maintains her accusations. We have taken note of his release from questioning, and will leave it in the hands of investigators as the inquiry continues,” lawyer Jean-Marc Descoubes said.

The woman, identified as “Karima” in media reports, says Brown along with his bodyguard and a friend assaulted her in the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel on the night of January 15.

Brown and his associates were released without charge on Tuesday after being held overnight for questioning on charges of aggravated rape and a drug offence.

The woman told police she met Brown in a nightclub near the Champs-Elysees avenue with a group of other party-goers.

She then agreed to go back to the hotel, which is on the glitzy Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.

A lawyer for the Grammy Award-winning singer said his client was innocent and was considering a defamation lawsuit.

The singer posted a picture on his Instagram account Tuesday night that read “This B!tch Lyin'”.

The singer, who according to Billboard has sold more than 100 million records, has been in the news more for his legal troubles than hit releases in recent years.

In 2009 he was convicted of beating fellow singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, who missed the Grammy Awards because of her injuries.

Cocaine Found In Chris Brown’s Hotel Room ‘Not His’ – Lawyer

French police probing rape claims against American R&B star Chris Brown found cocaine and cannabis in his Paris hotel suite, his lawyer said Wednesday while denying that the cocaine belonged to the singer.

Brown’s French lawyer, Raphael Chiche, confirmed that the 29-year-old was found in possession of cannabis during his arrest at the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel on Monday night over claims that he assaulted a woman a week earlier.

But the Grammy Award-winning singer had a note from his American doctor covering his use of the drug for medicinal purposes, Chiche said.

The cocaine found “was not his” and “belonged to those who had come to party in his suite on the night of January 20-21,” the lawyer added.

Brown, his bodyguard and a friend were arrested after a 25-year-old woman accused them of raping her in the Mandarin Oriental, where he was staying while attending shows during men’s fashion week in the French capital.

After being held for 24 hours the three were released without charge on Tuesday night.

Chiche said his client wanted to bring a defamation lawsuit.

“He says he had no sexual relations of any sort with the complainant,” Chiche said.

The singer, who denies the allegations, posted a picture on his Instagram account after his release that read “This B!tch Lyin'”.

“I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR…… THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! (sic),” he posted next to the picture.

Still Under Investigation

The prosecutor’s office said the three men were still under investigation on suspicion of aggravated rape and a drugs offence.

The alleged victim told police she met Brown in a nightclub near the Champs-Elysees avenue with a group of other women on the night of January 15.

She then agreed to go back to the singer’s hotel, on the glitzy boutique-lined Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.

Chiche said that his client was now free to return to the United States but would continue to cooperate with investigators and “will come back if he has to”.

Brown has been in the news more for his legal troubles than his hit releases in recent years.

In 2009 he was convicted of beating fellow singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, who was forced to miss the Grammy Awards because of her injuries.

Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of community service for the assault.

In 2014 he pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan in Washington and two years later he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon following a standoff with Los Angeles police officers.

He is best known for his hits in the mid-2000s such as “Kiss, Kiss” and “Run It”.

A 25-year-old woman has accused Brown, along with his bodyguard and a friend, of assaulting her in the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel last Tuesday night, a source close to the case said on condition of anonymity.

The Grammy Award-winning singer, 29, was detained on Monday on suspicion of aggravated rape and a drug offence.

The prosecutor’s office said an investigation was continuing, while Brown’s lawyer Raphael Chiche said his client “energetically” proclaimed his innocence and wanted to bring a defamation lawsuit.

The alleged victim told police she met Brown in a nightclub near the Champs-Elysees avenue with a group of other women.

She then agreed to go back to the hotel, which is on the glitzy boutique-lined Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore.

Brown was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of community service for the assault.

– Brushes with the law –
In 2014 he pleaded guilty to assaulting a fan in Washington and was accused of violence by a woman in Las Vegas.

Two years later he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon following a standoff with Los Angeles police officers, after a woman said he threatened her at his home.

And last May a woman filed a lawsuit against Brown over claims that one of his friends repeatedly raped her at a drink- and drug-fuelled party at the singer’s Los Angeles home in 2017.

Brown was discovered by record label scouts when he was just a boy, working at his father’s gas station in the US state of Virginia.

First identified as a rapper, he later found success with his rich singing voice, selling more than two million copies of his self-titled debut album released at the age of just 16.

Best known for hits in the mid-2000s such as “Kiss, Kiss” and “Run It”, Brown has released eight studio albums, six of which have gone platinum with over one million sales.

He went off the radar following the assault on Rihanna before launching a comeback in 2011 with the new album F.A.M.E., which debuted at number one on the US charts.

He has also dabbled in acting, appearing in several films as well as teen drama “The OC”.

He counts nearly 50 million followers on Instagram, where a picture posted on Sunday showed him meeting fans in Paris.

News of Brown’s arrest was first reported by the celebrity magazine Closer.

An investigation by Billboard in 2017 reported that Brown was battling a heavy addiction to cocaine and prescription medication.

Le Figaro newspaper had reported earlier that Brown, who has a history of violence, was in the French capital attending shows during men’s fashion week.

Pop Star Chris Brown Named In Sex Assault Lawsuit

A Los Angeles woman filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against Chris Brown and a fellow rapper, alleging she was repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted at Brown’s home during a drug- and alcohol-fueled party last year.

The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, said she was lured to the singer’s house following a concert at a nightclub on February 23, 2017 and was raped several times by Lowell Grissom, who performs under the name Young Lo.

She also alleges that another unidentified woman at the party assaulted her, forcing her into performing oral sex.

The assault was all the more gruesome, the lawsuit alleges, as the attacker — identified as Doe X — was menstruating at the time.

“This is one of the most horrific cases involving alleged sexual assault that I have ever seen,” Gloria Allred, one of three lawyers representing the woman, said in a statement.

“Our client, Jane Doe, has been severely traumatized by what she was forced to suffer.”

According to the lawsuit, following a concert at 1 Oak club in West Hollywood, the plaintiff and her roommate went to an after party where they met Grissom and Brown and had their phones confiscated.

The suit says that the plaintiff later ended up at Brown’s home as she was told by Grissom she could retrieve her cell phone at that location, where the party was continuing.

“Our client alleges … she was forced to go to Brown’s home because she perceived that she would only be able to retrieve her phone there,” Allred said.

The lawsuit said that the 29-year-old rapper provided alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana, at his home.

He also gave each female guest a clear capsule filled with white powder and instructed them to take it to have a “good time,” the suit alleges, adding that the plaintiff refused to take the drug.

– ‘Wants justice for herself’ –

The complaint says that at one point, the plaintiff was led to a bedroom where several women were having sex with Grissom and Brown.

“Plaintiff refused to undress and made it clear that she did not want to engage in any sexual activity with anyone,” according to the document.

It said that the plaintiff was subsequently repeatedly raped by Grissom and assaulted by Doe X. She was later allowed to leave the room by Doe X, who instructed her to take a shower.

“Plaintiff looked in the mirror and was horrified to see that she was covered in Doe X’s blood because Doe X had been menstruating,” the suit states.

It said the victim eventually was allowed to call a ride-sharing service and went to a rape treatment center and to the police where she reported the assaults.

“She filed this lawsuit because she wants justice for herself, but she also wants to warn other young women about the potential danger to themselves if they have their phone taken away and if they go to Chris Brown’s house,” Allred said.

Brown and Grissom’s publicists could not be immediately reached for comment.

Contacted by AFP, Los Angeles police said there was “no open investigation at this time regarding Chris Brown.”

The pop star over the years has had several brushes with the law.

He was convicted in 2009 of beating fellow singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend, who was forced to miss the Grammy Awards that year.

In 2016, he was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after a bizarre hours-long standoff with police in Los Angeles.

Muyiwa Set To Drop ‘Eko Ile’ On October 30

Muyiwa Set To Drop 'Eko Ile' On October 30UK-based Nigerian gospel artist, Olanrewaju Muyiwa, says his first all-African album ‘Eko Ile’ will be out on October 30.

The United Kingdom’s most prolific gospel artist noted that a UK tour announcement would follow the release of the dynamic 10-track album.

‘Eko Ile’ follows the success of Live at the Apollo (2012), the live CD and DVD recorded at his sold-out Hammersmith Apollo show with Riversongz, his charismatic Afro-gospel band.

Muyiwa explained in a statement that ‘Eko Ile’ is a return to his roots translating to ‘Lagos my home’ which harks to a Nigerian folk song of the same name. Muyiwa channels a myriad of African music styles via gospel.

“Written alongside Kwame Yeboah (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ms. Dynamite) and Eddie Martin (Whitney Houston, Neyo, Chris Brown) and produced by the former, the album is a journey from east to west of the continent, stopping off at high-life reminiscent of fellow countryman Fela Kuti, refreshed takes on traditional African praise, and African reggae,” he said in the statement.

“It makes sense then, that the album was predominantly recorded in Ghana, that it frequently features Muyiwa’s native Nigerian tongue of Yoruba and that it’s peppered with Swahili, Zulu, and Pidgin English.”
