Osun State Government Commissions Ayegbaju Ultra Modern Market

osun state governorThe Osun state government has commissioned the Ayegbaju International Modern Market. The market, situated in the heart of Osogbo town, the state capital, sits on a 8-hectare piece of land  and is estimated to have gulped about 2.3 billion Naira.

Inspite of the heavy downpour on Monday, Traditional Rulers, Market Men and Women, clerics and residents of Osogbo Town all sat under a tent to celebrate the commissioning of the market.

The Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Basiru Ajibola,  explained that the market has three phases and that only two phases have been completed, saying that the last phase will soon be ready for commissioning.

According to him, government has approved the construction of two other ultra-modern markets in Ilesa and Ife respectively.

The governor, Rauf aregbesola, who was obviously elated at the fast pace of the  project, which commenced in October 2012, said the whole idea is to develop Osun State as the International Market will enhance the economy of the state.

After the commissioning the governor took a walk around the edifice, which has interesting features like open stalls, lock up shops, office spaces, warehouses , medical centre, mosque, trailer parks, fire station, bank, police post and a cold room .

The Ayegbaju International Market, built on Public – Private -Partnership arrangement, has an indigenous online market.

The third phase when completed is expected to have a three star hotel, a shopping mall and a cinema.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Saturday programme, Sunrise,  of the controversy awash in the Media about her marriage, she  avers that she is still single, but not searching.

The fair complexioned actress, spoke on her first production Movie, “The Voice” which she described as the combination of Acting and production, pointing out that she wants to take the Movie industry by storm.

On her effortless interpretation of roles assigned to her, she commented on her crying mood, stating that she learnt how to cry in the industry.

“The concentration comes to you and then the tears follow”, she explained.

Responding on the condition of being a second Wife, she responded that it depends on the condition

“If the situation and the person is good  she would go for it”

The controversial Actress rebuffed the accusation of having any romance with the Imo state Governor.

Fraud: Court Grants Briton, Former Banker N200m Bail Each

A Federal High Court in Lagos granted bail in the sum of N200 million each to two persons, a British citizen, Gareth Wilcox and Johnson Adebami, charged with N15 billion fraud, on Monday.

The accused persons were alleged to have obtained over 15 billion naira from the defunct Gulf Bank Plc, without appropriate accounting records, under the guise of granting loans and overdraft facilities to various companies. They allegedly converted and appropriated a total of 55.3 million dollars and over 3.7 billion naira belonging to the said bank.

Mr Wilcox, a former Managing Director of Ibom Power Company and LYK Engineering Company, is standing trial alongside Adebami, a former Managing Director of the defunct Gulf Bank Plc, on a 21-count charge bordering on alleged fraud.

According to the prosecution, the offences contravened the provisions of Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap A6, Laws of the Federation, 2006.

Also, former legal adviser to all three companies involved, Uche Uwechia, is standing trial alongside the other two.

Ruling on the bail application, the trial judge, Justice Mohammed Yunusa, granted Wilcox and Adebami bail in the sum of N200 million each, with two sureties each in like sum. The sureties must possess landed property within the jurisdiction of the court and they must present two years tax clearance certificate as well as depose to an affidavit of means.

In addition, Wilcox and Adebami must deposit their international passports with the court alongside an undertaking not to travel out of the country, until the case has been determined. However, the judge granted Uwechia bail in the sum of N100 million with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must also possess landed property within the court’s jurisdiction, and present two years tax clearance certificate.

Uwechia was ordered to deposit his passport with the court, and must ensure that he does not leave the country, until February 26, 2014 the adjourned date for the trial.

The accused who pleaded not guilty to all charges levelled against them were remanded in the custody of the Special Anti-Fraud Unit, pending the determination of their bail.


Labour Party Asks Clerics To Pray For Uba

The Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State has gone spiritual over the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra, as it engaged the services of Muslim and Christian clerics to ensure the success of the party and its candidate, Ifeayin Uba.

At an event in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, Christian and Muslim clerics prayed fervently for a brilliant outing for the party in an election expected to be keenly contested by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Addressing journalists at the event tagged ‘Prayer for Victory Meeting’, the state Secretary of the party, Sunday Ogini, stated that the prayer became necessary because there’s need to pray for their candidate in Anambra State to win the poll.

The election is slated to hold on November 16.
