Ebele Obiano Defeats Ex-Chief Of Staff To Clinch Anambra North Senatorial Ticket

The former First Lady of Anambra State, Ebele Obiano has won the North Senatorial ticket in the primary election.

Mrs Obiano won the race on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

She defeated the immediate past Chief of Staff to her husband, Mr Primus Odili, to clinch the Senatorial ticket which was held at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha.

The former Anambra First Lady polled 152 votes to beat Mr Odili who came second with 122 votes.

Two other contestants including a one-time State Commissioner for Information, Mr Tony Nnacheta and Mr Samuel Onwuteaka Jnr. got 2 votes each.

Anambra First Lady Commissions Sanitation Facilities In Communities

Ebelechukwu-ObianoThe wife of Anambra State governor, Ebele Obiano, has commissioned toilet facilities and boreholes in Umudioka, Agulu communities in Dunukofia and Anaocha Local Government Areas, respectively.

Mrs. Obiano says the projects will not only end open defecation method that generates diseases but will in no small measure promote hygiene, healthy and conducive environment especially for women to protect their dignity.

She used the opportunity to condemn a reported incidence of extortion from helpless women in the market, by touts against the state revenue collection procedures and laws, warning mothers to advice their wards to desist from such acts as the law will catch up with them.

The Member representing Dunukofia Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Lawrence Ezeudu, and the Traditional Ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, all lauded the effort of the wife of the governor for impacting positively on the lives of the people.


Mrs. Obiano also assured the people that in spite of dwindling resources, the present administration is committed to the development of Anambra, create enabling environment for investment and provide women with opportunities to survive against all odds.
