Amosun Flags Off Campaign For Ogun LG Polls

re-run election in abia state. Amosun- Ogun electionOgun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has flagged off the campaign tour of Local Governments (LG) in preparation for the LG poll into the 20 LGs and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.

Leading other members of the State Executive Council, party official and supporters, Governor Amosun thanked supporters of the All Progressives Congress for their support for his administration’s policies and programmes.

He also assured the residents of more developments, saying that all ongoing projects will be completed before the end of his administration.

The Governor warned against any form of violence before, during and after the polls, urging residents of the state to come out and vote.

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) announced October 8 for the conduct of the elections in the state.

The Chairperson of the OGSIEC, Mrs Risikat Ogunfemi, also admonished politicians to play by the rules of the game, just as she asked youths in the state not to allow themselves to be used as instrument of violence by politicians.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Zone 2, which comprises of Lagos and Ogun States, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali said that the Police would not condone any forms of irregularities and indiscipline during and after the polls.

Representing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the stakeholders meeting held with members of political parties and security chiefs in Abeokuta, the state capital,the AIG also warned men and officers against all forms of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts.

The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, expressed the readiness of the Police for the Saturday polls, saying that about 5,000 Police officers would be deployed for the exercise.

25 Year-Old In Police Custody For Stabbing Friend To Death

at Iyesi Otta, in Ado-Odo, Otta Local Government of Ogun State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, operatives attached to Onipanu Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested the suspect after a friend reported the incident to the police

The suspect and the deceased were said to have engaged in a hot argument, before the suspect stabbed his friend with a bottle on his neck.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, has ordered thorough investigation into the incident, as he directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran Abeokuta, to take up the matter immediately.

Ogun Police Arrest More Suspects In Connection With Senator’s Kidnap

police obianoThe Ogun State Police Commissioner, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, says more suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnap of Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, making the number seven from the earlier two announced by the police authority in the state.

He gave the hint in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, after a strategic  meeting with members of the Police Community Relations Committee.

The Commissioner while asking officers and men to be alive to their constitutional duties of protecting lives and property, however, sought more collaboration with other sister agencies in the onerous task.

While soliciting for information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in the state, the Police Commissioner also assured residents of the state of adequate protection of lives and property.

To ensure effective policing, police authority holds strategic security meeting with community leaders.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress was rescued on May 3 days after her abduction.

Senator Anisulowo, who represented Ogun West Senatorial district between 2003-2007 at the Senate, was kidnapped alongside her security aide in Igbogila area of Ogun State.

She was abducted while returning from her farm by four armed men.

The former Minister of State for Education has described her abduction as one that tells the story of the grace of God upon the lives of men.

In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, she narrated how the kidnappers took her and all that happened while she was away in captivity.

Police Redeploy Embattled Divisional Officer In Sagamu

Sagamu-DPOThe embattled Divisional Police Officer in Sagamu, Ogun State, Mr John Mark, has been redeployed to the Command Headquarters, Eleweran in the State’s capital, Abeokuta.

Mr Mark’s redeployment came a day after some residents of the area held a protest, demanding that he should be removed from the division.

They accused him of extortion and illegal arrest of innocent residents of the area.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, ordered his immediate redeployment in response to the allegations levelled against him which the Command said it was not insensitive to.

He said that the redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) would allow the Nigeria Police Force investigate the allegations against him and other counter allegations against certain individuals.

The Commissioner of Police has constituted a 6-man committee, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance & Administration and second in Command Mr Celestine Okoye, to investigate the allegations against the DPO and the concerned Honourable member of Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Yinka Mafe, and forward its report within one week.

The Committee is expected to carefully consider the allegations and counter allegations in the said matter so as to set the record straight.

The Commissioner of Police also assured the public that the Command would not tolerate any act of corruption and inappropriate behaviour that could damage the image and reputation of the Force.

He reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism, vandalism, hooliganism, kidnapping and other social vices that were inimical to adequate security of lives and property in Ogun State.

Ogun Police Parade 35 Suspects, Impound 297 Bags Of Cannabis

PoliceThe Ogun State Police Command has announced a total ban on the use of banger, firecrackers and knockout, saying that anyone caught would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, handed down the warning in his office in Abeokuta, the state capital, while parading about 35 suspects arrested from various areas across the state for various offenses.

The command also paraded a truck loaded with 297 bags of substance suspected to be Indian hemp along Ajuwon/Akute road in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Commissioner, it is now a crime to organise illegal procession, use firecrackers, knockout, etc. He said that the sale and use of those items remained banned, just as he asked residents and fun seekers to be moderate and vigilant.

While assuring residents of adequate protection of life and property, the Police boss also canvassed quality information from members of the general public that can lead to the arrest of criminals in their midst.
