Rio Olympics: Nadal And Lopez Win Gold For Spain

Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal, French OpenSpanish tennis players, Rafa Nadal and Marc Lopez won the Olympic men’s doubles tennis title on Friday, after beating Romania’s Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau to win gold for their country.

The Spanish duo beat Mergea and Tecau 6-2 3-6 6-4 to secure their country’s third gold medal of the Rio de Janeiro Games.

Meanwhile, American duo Steve Johnson and Jack Sock beat Canada’s Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil 6-2 6-4 to clinch bronze.

Roger Federer Through To Wimbledon Quarter-Finals

Roger Federer, WimbledonWorld’s third best tennis player, Roger Federer, on Monday progressed into the Wimbledon quarter-finals in London.

The seven-time champion, who has been struggling for form this summer, cruised to the next round of the competition after beating Steve Johnson 6-2 6-3 7-5 on Centre Court.

34-year-old Federer would be hoping to break the record by clinching his eighth men’s singles title.

He will be contending with world seeded number eight, Marin Cilic, who won the 2014 US Open title.
