Vice President Osinbajo Visits Adamawa

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has arrived Yola on an official visit to Adamawa state.

He is accompanied by the Secretary to the Federal Government Babachir Lawal, the FCT Minister Mohammad Musa, Sen. Binta Garba and other dignitaries.

Professor Osinbajo was received at the airport by the Adamawa State governor Mohammed Jibrilla and the states executive council members.

His first point of call was the palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, Mohammadu Barkindo Mustapha where he was received by all the eight traditional rulers in the state.

The Vice President is expected to inspect some of the state government’s ongoing projects.

Osinbajo Presides Over FEC Meeting In Buhari’s Absence

At the start of the meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari was absent.

While cabinet members are expected to brief state journalists on the outcome of the meeting.

This will be the first council meeting to be held without President Buhari since his return from United Kingdom, last month.

Osinbajo, Gowon, Others Celebrate Ambassador Isa Wali Prominent political and traditional leaders from pre and post-independence period, elderly diplomats and legal lumineries have converged in Abuja to celebrate the golden jubilee of the death of Isa Wali.

Mr Wali, considered as a close confidant, friend, brother and father by many during his lifetime, was a Nigerian diplomat from Kano who served as the Ambassador to Ghana during the independence of Nigeria.

The 50th anniversary is marked by the Isa Wali Empowerement, an organisation which supports women, youths and children in rising above poverty and economic hardships.

The event brought together dignitaries such as General Yakubu Gowon, Justice Muhammadu Uwais, Alh Maitama Sule, Ambassador Isaac Sagay, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Protests: Osinbajo Commends Police, Promises End To Recession

We Hear You, Loud And Clear, Osinbajo Tells ProtestersThe Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has commended the Inspector General of Police and his officers for handling the protests with professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens.

The Vice President said in a statement, “We are committed to a continuous engagement with our people to explain government policies, receive advice and criticism.

“Cabinet Ministers have gone round 8 States so far holding town hall meetings, the most recent was in Ilorin on Monday.

“There will be more of such meetings in the other States that are yet to be visited”.

The Vice President further stated that there will be complete focus on improving the economy every day so that recession will be a thing of the past.

Osinbajo Swears In New NPC Commissioners

The brief ceremony took place before the Federal Executive Council meeting which had the Ministers in attendance.

The swearing-in follows the successful screening of the commissioners by the Senate, after their nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016.

The Commissioners are Dr Eyitayo Oyetunji from Oyo State, Mr Benedict Ukpong from Akwa Ibom state, Dr Haliru Bala from Kebbu State, Patricia Uche, from Benue and Gloria Izunfuo from Bayelsa state.

Buhari Commiserates With Osinbajos, Sends Delegation To Ikenne 

foreign loans-buhariPresident Muhammadu Buhari has placed a personal call to the family of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to commiserate with them over the death of Matriarch of the Awolowo family.

The late Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the grand mother of Dolapo, the Vice President’s wife.

Buhari described the deceased as “an institution in her own right” and “a model of motherhood”.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, President Buhari told the Osinbajos that late Hannah Idowu was one of the greatest female political icons in Africa who was deservingly revered for her remarkable virtues.

Buhari noted that Idowu’s shining virtues as a great mother, wife and motivator, would live after her.

According to the statement, the President has dispatched a powerful Federal Government delegation to condole with the Awolowo family at Ikenne, Ogun State.

The delegation, which met the Vice President and other members of the Awolowo family, was led by Malal Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff.

He was accompanied by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir David Lawal, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olanishakin and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Ambassador Oke.

The delegation extended his condolences to the family, the government and people of Ogun State over the death of Mrs. Awolowo.
