Veteran broadcaster, foremost dramatist and former Nigerian envoy, Segun Olushola is dead.
He passed away, Thursday evening shortly after he was admitted to Royal Specialist Hospital in Lagos, following a brief illness.
His aide, Wole Adediran confirmed the death on social media network, Facebook, where he posted that “Baba is dead”, shortly after his demise.
Amb. Olushola, began his broadcasting Career in 1955 at the Ibadan station of the Nigerian Broadcasting Service.
In September 1959, he became Africa’s first Television producer with the WNTV (now NTA Ibadan) in a television career that lasted till 1987.
During his broadcast career, he is famed for being the creator of Nigeria’s longest running TV Drama series, The Village Headmaster in 1968.
Chief Olusola was appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ethiopia in 1987 and made the resident representative to the Organisation of African Unity, where he served till 1993.
He is also the founder of the African Refugees Foundation which is devoted to the management of the root causes of Refugees and internal displacement.
Ambassador Olushola was born in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, on March 18, 1935.
