Policeman kills bus driver for brushing patrol van

A middle aged man was on Thursday allegedly shot dead by a policeman in Iperu, Remo North local government area of Ogun State, South West Nigeria while two others sustained bullet wounds.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred when the deceased, a commercial driver allegedly brushed a police patrol van along the Sagamu/Benin express way.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi expressed the displeasure of the command over the incident, saying that investigations into the killing would commence immediately while the culprit would be made to face the full wrath of the law if found guilty.

Eyewitnesses said after the killing, the residents in the area engaged the police officers in a fight leading to the burning of the police patrol vehicle.

Mr Adejobi however said that the situation has been brought under control as the state commissioner of police, Ikemefuna Okoye sympathized with the family of the deceased when he visited the scene of the crime.

    This is clearly a case of frustration and transferred aggression. Every driver needs to be careful. Since the I.G ordered road blocks to be dismantled, some of the  Police personnel on our roads have become rather touchy and easily irritated. When did road blocks become accepted as an alternative source of revenue for our Policemen? God save Nigeria.

    Why should the driver brush the police van? What if they go to court and say the man wanted to run them down with his vehicle and they shot in self defense?

         I pray that almighty God will arrest those evil police and they will be punished severely  IJN.I was driving along Sagamu RSS road 3 Saturdays ago when they suddenly brushed my car and pushed my family and I off the road for just no reason.For God on that faithful day,we would have all died.May God punished them all.

    A policeman will kill someone, the authority says “we will look into it” and the family of the deceased take home “sorry madam”. I think matter like this shouldn’t be taken with levity. Our police needs mental re- orientation program. No citizen of this country even feels comfortable seeing them on the street. I hope the family of the driver and the NURTW as a whole will not sleep until justice is done completely.

    All Police men needs orientation and constant training on their roles in the society. Where a patrol team is not on emergency assignment they shld follow normal traffic. In PH for instance, in the traffic, u will notice them blaring the siren as if the governor is passing!! They must obey the traffic laws they are paid to uphold.
    They are so lawless that I find it difficult adjust living in PH.

    That is Nigerian Police Force behaving like thug and showing power and forget that it is the innocent and poor people they are killing are the one they suppose to protect.Those police who killed poor and innocent Nigerian are animal in human form who need to be deal  with firmly and face the highest punishment, They need to know that nobody above the law.

    The Most annoying thing about this Country is that after this, marks the end of this story, who then should learn form such a callous act when even the MEDIA  would not follow the story to its end. They just bombard us with HEADLINES without follow ups.
    The Police should be ashamed that rather than protecting Lives and properties they ‘ve started killing  citizens. Things like these only happen in Nigeria. WHERE IS “LAWAL”?
