The blast also occurred during a Christmas service. Gadaka is a town located in Yobe state, which recently suffered a brutal gun battle between Boko Haram sect members and security forces.
The explosion happened hours after a blast killed at least 25 people at a church in Madalla, just outside the capital Abuja. Another church explosion in the central city of Jos caused damage but no serious casualties, officials said.
According to the Reuters report, Boko Haram spokesman Abu Qaqa claimed the bombings in a statement to the journalists’ association of Maiduguri, the reported base of the dreaded sect.
