The Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu has welcomed the declaration of state of emergency in parts of Borno,Yobe,Plateau and Niger States by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, saying the State Government will support any move aimed at restoring lasting peace to the affected areas.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Danladi Ndayebo, Governor Aliyu said the time has come to arrest terrorist activities that have made vital institutions of government and places of worship targets of attacks.
Doctor Aliyu who is also the Chairman Northern Governors Forum pledged to work with the special task force that will be set up by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Inspector General of Police to oversee the affairs of some local governments in the North.
He urged Nigerians not to allow any group of persons to hide under any ideology or religion to perpetrate evil.
