98 pupils of Dutse Model International School, Jigawa State narrowly escaped death when a fire outbreak razed one of the hostels in the school on Tuesday night.
The Principal of the school, Zainab Usman, told journalists in Dutse on Wednesday that the pupils narrowly escaped the fire as they were observing their prayers in the mosque when the fire razed their hostels.
Mrs. Zainab said apart from razing a block of five rooms, the fire also destroyed all the property of the 98 pupils, who lived in the rooms.
The Principal also said that the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained adding that it could have resulted from an electrical fault. She further said a committee to evaluate the extent of the damage done to the school by the fire, has been set up by the ministry of education.
“We thank God that no student lost his life or sustained injury because they were all in the mosque,” she concluded.
