Falconets coach Edwin Okon, has praised his U-20 girls for their performance against Korea Republic at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan but cautioned the team as there is still a lot to be done.

The Nigerian girls beat Korea Republic 2-0.

The Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has also praised the U-20 women’s team for their brilliant start.

The Minister described the girls performance as brilliant, fast and strong, adding that they displayed the typical Nigerian style with amazing dribbling skills and good ball possession.

“These girls are amazing. I urge them to do Nigeria proud by displaying this same great form in their next match against Brazil and throughout the tournament” He said,

Ngozi Okobi opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark, while Desire Oparanozie extended the advantage midway through the second period.

The Nigerian girls, backed by a buoyant and colourful band of supporters, went ahead following smart work from Francisca Ordega on the right side of the box, with the midfielder playing a perfect low ball across the face of goal for Okobi to score.

Nigeria claimed a deserved second with Ebere Orji’s cross into the penalty finding Oparanozie who scored with a stylish header.
