Search engine giant Google has been rumoured to unveil its new Nexus smartphone in the next 30 days of the new month October.

Although this information is being based on speculation citing “trustworthy” sources which chose remain anonymous.

The rumours also say that the mystery handset will contain a new, incremental version of Android, numbered 4.2, rather than a major step up to 5.0.

As the site suggests, there is an opportunity for Google to make a product announcement at the Dive into Mobile event hosted by All Things D on 29-30 October.

The next Nexus flagship phone is also expected to ship unlocked rather than be tied to a mobile carrier network so, despite the short timescale; it could still feasibly go on sale through the Google Play store (in selected territories) before Christmas, if these rumours are correct.

LG is said to be the supplier for the new phone, based on the Optimus G with a few changes.

Android 4.2 has been logged by some web servers, so someone is testing this version of the OS somewhere. The possible new features as including multi-user logins enhanced Maps, a revised dialler, improved camera features and native support for wireless display standards such as Miracast.

There have also been recent rumours of new Nexus tablets, from Asus, but these were shot down by the manufacturer, at least for the time being.
