The family of Adegbayi has called on Nigerians to demand the return of their son Akinmola Adegbayi who was arrested under suspicious conditions two years ago by Superintendent Taoofeek whom the police has now declared to be missing from their custody.
Mr. Benjamin Adegbayi, his wife Mrs. Adetoro Adegbayi and their Pastor, Mr. Moses Bartholomew of The Redeemed Christian Church of God revealed this on Channels Television Saturday breakfast programme, Sunrise.
According to Mrs. Adegbayi, on the 10th of February 2011, 15 men led by Superintendent Taoofeek raided their house at about at 12:15pm and seized their son, Akinmola Adegbayi after conducting an unauthorized search in Akinmola’s room.
The Police claimed that a bag containing a gun was found in Akinmola’s room.
However, Akinmola’s wife who was at the time of the incident pregnant with their 2 year old son stated that her husband was never in possession of such an instrument.
The family was also told that Akinmola was shot for trying to escape from prison and was taken to a hospital in Lagos.
The hospital has also denied ever attending to Akinmola as a patient.
Efforts to seek redress from the Court of Law have proven futile.
