In what has become a tradition in the Presidential Villa for three years running, President Goodluck Jonathan and other government officials on Saturday morning, held a presidential national breakfast prayers.

The prayer meeting called on all Nigerians not to be deterred or be weary in spirit following the security challenges facing the nation.

Dr Jonathan said that Nigeria was brought together by providence and that everyone must be hopeful that all the problems confronting the nation will soon be over as nothing is impossible with God.

The President came with a message that Nigeria’s should not be weary in prayers as he called for wisdom to implement the right decisions from the most high. He also prayed for strength and wisdom to implement the right decisions for the good of the nation.


The breakfast prayers had in attendance, former head of Nigeria’s interim government; Chief Ernest Shonekan, Deputy Senate President; Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives; Emeka Ihedioha, all the cabinet members, members of the diplomatic corps, the clergy, and captains of industries.

Clergymen that were also in attendance are Pastor Emmanuel Kure of The Throne Room Ministry, the General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Musa Asake, and the Primate of the Anglican Communion in Nigeria, Reverend Nicholas Okoh.

The event featured prayers for the nation, the President and those in government as well as other world leaders

Professor Falola of the Believers Baptist Church Kano drew his sermon from the book of Deuteronomy on what to do to reap from the land.

The presidential national breakfast prayer was introduced three years ago as a buffer to the many challenges that is confronting the nation. Many call it an eloquent demonstration of the President’s belief that Nigerians cannot make it by their powers alone.
