Ahead of the 2015 general election, natives of southern part of Kaduna state in North-West Nigeria are insisting that the zone should produce the next governor for equity and fairness.

At a forum in Kafanchan, participants argued that they have been marginalized politically and economically for a long time, adding that only a balanced rotation of power would address the issue.

They also called on the federal Government to make haste and situate a military barracks in the area which they believe will go a long way in forestalling the spate of attacks, which has overtime left hundreds of lives lost, and properties destroyed.

The President of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Dr. Ephraim Goje said the region has contributed a lot to the success story of democracy in the state and the country at large, but lamented the lack of government presence.

In a swift reaction, Kaduna state governor, Alh. MUkhtar Yero, represented by Aminu Yahaya said the security challenges are not peculiar to the area alone adding that hands must be on deck towards security of lives and property in the zone.

He also advised aggrieved persons to always explore the dialogue option instead of revenge.
