The Joint Security Forces in Kano state North West Nigeria has discovered a bomb making factory at Gunduwawa village of Gezawa Local Government of the state.

Addressing a news conference, the commandant of the 3rd Brigade, Nigeria Army in Kano, Brigadier General Iliyasu Abba, says, no arrest has been made as the suspect escaped before the arrival of the JTF.

He however said one person has been identified as the son of the terrorist’s land lord. The person in question was said to have tricked his father into renting the house to suspected terrorists.

During the raid, which was carried out yesterday, the JTF discovered weapons such as one assault rifle, two AK 47 rifles, 58 rifle magazines with 193 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, one AK 47 rifle magazine with 107 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition as well as bow and arrows.

Other items discovered include 3 primed cylinders of IED, one primed explosive suicide back pack, 18 empty IED cylinders, 24 detonators, small bags of fertilizers, IED timers, cotex wires and 3 remote control devices.

Also recovered according to Abba are 5 Motorola hand held radios, 4 communicators, 6 alarm clocks, 2 cartons of 9 volt batteries.

Meanwhile, the JTF revealed that the suspected terrorists were trying to establish a safe haven on the outskirts of Kano and therefore called on villagers to be watchful and report any suspicious movement.
